BRIDGETON - A 38-year-old male employee at Martin Dye and Finishing Corp., on North Pearl Street, suffered serious internal injuries after falling through the facility's roof and onto a concrete floor. The man, described by company Vice President Judy Martin as a "longtime" employee, was flown out to Cooper University Hospital, in Camden. Neither police nor Martin knew the man's condition at the hospital as of Friday afternoon. Authorities have not released the employee's name. According to Martin, the man, who resides on Orchard Road, in Vineland, had been working on roof repairs on top of building when a section of the roof collapsed around 1 p.m., sending the employee plummeting down approximately 20 feet to the concrete floor bellow. Police stated the man was unconscious when receiving treatment in an ambulance and later in the medical helicopter that airlifted him from the scene. However, Martin stated she spoke with the employee immediately following the accident. "After I called the ambulance, I came around to where he was and he was talking then," said Martin early Friday evening. "I'm not sure of his condition now though. No one has gotten back to us on that yet." Police at the scene contacted the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to report the accident. Representatives at OSHA were unavailable for comment Friday afternoon.
