Plumsted Township Police located and arrested the person responsible for a hit-and-run incident last Friday night. The incident took place in the parking lot of the Plumsted Grill, located at 457 Route 539, at 7:20 p.m. on July 18. According to police, Kenneth Paszkewicz, 57, of Cream Ridge, backed into another vehicle, which caused "heavy, front-end damage" to the other vehicle. Police stated Paszkewicz left the scene of the accident. Officers were able to locate Paszkewicz and his vehicle thanks to the observant eyes of other Plumsted Grill partons in the parking lot. They remembered the license plate number, police said. Officers located Paszkewicz and his vehicle at his home. Officers then reportedly "determined that Paszkewicz was intoxicated." Advertisement The method used to determine that Paszkewicz was intoxicated was not disclosed. "(Paszkewicz) said he was unaware of the collision," said Lt. Titko, of the Plumsted Towsnhip Police Department. Titko said Paszkewicz told officers he did not know he struck the vehicle in the parking lot. According to the police blotter released earlier this week, officers charged Paszkewicz with driving while intoxicated and careless. He received no citations in relation to the hit and run. Titko confirmed this report. Titko said it is not mandatory for Paszkewicz to be cited for any hit-and-run related violations. Any citations are at the discretion of the investigating officer or officers, Titko said. "Should (Paszkewicz) have been charged, probably," Titko said. Aside from the police blotter, which stated "heavy, front-end damage" to Tummillo's vehicle, the condition of her Acura is unkown. The condition of Paszkewicz's Ford was not released. Neither Tummillo nor Paszkewicz could be reached for comment. Just five days earlier, on July 13, a similar incident occured on Route 539, near the New Egypt Speedway. According to police, Julie Spence, 48, of Macomb, MI, veered off Route 539 to avoid stopped traffic and struck a retaining wall. Police stated Spence left the scene of the incident before officers arrived. Officers identified Spence's vehicle through undisclosed means and pulled her over. Police charged Spence with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report and other, undis-closed traffic violations. //onblass.com/news1//
